Rules

Overview

The rules below were drafted from three primary sources: the results of the Google form, rules from previous iterations of the game, and input from the SGA, Nick, and Johannes. If you have concerns, feel free to reach out.

Void all rules where administration steps in: Nick and Ellie will not interfere with the votes under any circumstances.

Teams

  • Teams can consist of either one or two players.
  • Once teams are formed, they cannot be changed.
  • Each team must sign up with a team name and photo.

Game Logic

  • The game is divided into multiple rounds.
  • Round start and end time/dates, along with how many rounds will be played, will be announced before.
  • At the beginning of each round, teams are assigned a new target.
  • At the end of each round:
    • If a team has eliminated all of their targets, they move on. Any eliminated players are revived.
    • If a team has eliminated one of their targets, then they move on. Eliminated players are not revived.
    • If a team fails to eliminate any of their targets, their team is eliminated by the system.
  • The final round will be a free for all, where teams are instructed to target all remaining players. Last team standing during the free for all wins 1st place. 2nd through 5th place is determined by the number of kills.

Elimination Rules

  • Permitted weapons: Only water guns are allowed.
  • To eliminate a player, you must be:
    • On your feet ( standing, sitting, or lying down--no cars, bikes, scooters, or other vehicles).
    • In open air (meaning not indoors)(excluding houses, see section below).
    • Not in a Safe Zone.
    • In compliance with all other rules.
  • Video proof: All eliminations must be recorded on video and uploaded to the portal for vote. Only videos will be accepted.
  • Safe zones:
    • All MBS Property (excluding the parking lot, see below).
    • Any other school's property.
    • MBS Parking lot from:
      • 7:45am to 2:45pm on regular days.
      • 7:45am to 3:25 pm on Fridays.
      • 9:15am to 2:40pm on delayed openings.
      • --- Assume 15 minutes before start, and 5 minutes after end. ---
Only including the pavement. (The stairs, grass, and road are not considered the parking lot.)
    • The location of any competitive sport practice or competition (see sports section).
    • The location of any work shift (see work section).

Kill Confirmation Process

  • After eliminating a player, the attacker must submit a kill confirmation through the game portal.
  • The submission must include a video of the elimination.
  • Other players in the game will vote to confirm or reject the elimination.
  • A minimum of 40 votes is required to confirm or reject the elimination. This number can be changed by admin.
  • Eliminations in blatant violation of the rules (such as in safe zones) will be rejected. Otherwise, it will be up to the players of the game to decide if a kill counts.

Sports

  • Players are considered "immune" during any competitive sport practice or competition, or work shift.
  • A competitive sport is defined by a sport with:
    • A dedicated team.
    • A paid coach.
    • Formal Competitions
  • The player is immune in their commute from their car to their practice/competition.
  • Once the player leaves their locker room (or location of practice/competition if there is no locker room), the player must start a stopwatch on their phone.
  • The player has 5 minutes of immunity to leave the location.
  • If the timer has been started properly, all kill confirmations against the player while the timer reads under 5 minutes will be rejected.
  • If an attacker can prove that the player failed to start the timer properly, the kill confirmation will go on to public vote.

Work

  • Players are considered "immune" during any work shift.
  • Work is defined by any of the below:
    • A contracted job (employment).
    • Obligatory volunteer work.
  • The player is immune in their commute from their car to their work.
  • Once the shift ends, the player is immediately vulnerable with no grace period.

Significant Injuries

  • Players with significant injuries are considered "immune" during any therapy for their injury.
  • Significant injuries are defined by injuries that actively impede the player from running away (such as a torn ACL).
  • The player is immune in their commute from their car to the location of their therapy.
  • Once the player leaves their therapy, the player must start a stopwatch on their phone.
  • The player has 3 minutes of immunity to leave the location.
  • If the timer has been started properly, all kill confirmations against the player while the timer reads under 3 minutes will be rejected.
  • If an attacker can prove that the player failed to start the timer properly, or that the player does not in fact have a significant injury, the kill confirmation will go on to public vote.

Houses and Functions

  • Houses are an exception to the no indoors rule.
  • If an attacker is invited into the targets home by the target themselves, then all kills are valid.
  • If an attacker and target are both invited into the home of another player, all kills are also valid.
  • If a function happening inside a player's home has more than 15 other players (meaning participants of Crimsassions), then all kills are invalid.
  • Twins: If twins are assigned to each-other as targets, they cannot kill each-other. A teammate must kill the twin in question.

Cars

  • You cannot tag a player while in any car seat (front or back, driving or passenger).
  • You can tag a player from the trunk of the car, only as long as the car is not being operated (meaning the driver's seat is empty).
  • You can be tagged while sitting inside a car through an open door.

Stalking/Following/Tracking/Other Things

  • All players are subject to the repercussions of their actions as they pursue their targets.
  • Do not drive recklessly while following a target.
  • When staking out and waiting for your target (such as in a bush), please keep in mind how your presence and actions will be interpreted by non-players.
  • Do not trespass on to property. This includes fenced in back-yards.
  • Tracking devices of any kind (Air Tags, Tiles, or anything else) are not allowed.

Traveling/Leave of Absences

  • Players are considered on a leave of absence if they are not taggable because of their location (such as if they are traveling).
  • If players are gone for longer than 72 hours, they will be manually eliminated for the round. Players can still be revived by their teammates using normal game logic.
  • To confirm that you are traveling for less than 72 hours, please send your travel information to an admin.

Other Safety Guidelines

  • USE YOUR HEAD. Don't do stupid stuff.
  • Never engage in dangerous or illegal behavior. You are liable to your own repercussions of your actions.
  • Weapons should not be visible in public places where they might cause alarm.
  • Weapons should not resemble firearms, or any other legitimate weapons.
  • Be respectful of other people.
  • If the school approaches you with questions about the game, deny involvement.

Breaking Rules

  • Players who break rules are given one offence.
  • After the first offence, a player's team will be disqualified from the game.
